The new season has officially begun as Diamondbacks pitchers and catchers reported to Spring Training today! Some position players have also reported to Salt River Fields and soon enough games will start and fans will get to see the 2014 D-Backs in action. • Reports by Joel Sherman of the New York Post and Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe indicate the Diamondbacks are aggressively pursuing free agent Bronson Arroyo.

• Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times says (via Twitter) that the Dbacks are showing interest in Rays catcher Jose Lobaton

• Earlier this week, the Diamondbacks announced contract extensions for Manager Kirk Gibson and General Manager Kevin Towers. The terms of the new deal were not disclosed but it is assumed the two are still on a short leash after finishing the last two seasons at 81-81.  

• Former Diamondback Curt Schilling announced yesterday that he has been diagnosed with cancer. Schilling, 47, was co-MVP, along with Randy Johnson, on the D-Backs 2001 World Series Championship team and also won the World Series in 2004 and 2007 with the Boston Red Sox
